Arkansas State University Qatar hosts Class of 2026 graduation

Executive Director, Murat Unal emphasized that the institution’s academic priorities are closely aligned with Qatar’s national development vision and workforce demands. 

“This is our third batch,” Unal said while reflecting on the graduating cohort. “The batch includes students from the Bachelor of Science programs in Digital Design and Technology and نظم الإدارة الهندسية, as well as 22 graduates from the Master of Science in Education Leadership program.” 

According to Unal, the university’s mission extends far beyond awarding degrees. Instead, it focuses on developing highly skilled graduates who can contribute meaningfully to Qatar’s rapidly evolving economy and technological landscape. 

“They learn a lot about technologies that are currently in huge need for Qatar as a whole, for its national vision,” he explained, pointing specifically to fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud technology, and educational leadership.

“This year we have started pushing very strongly internships, meaning securing internships ahead of graduation,” Unal explained. “It’s very important to have the foot in the door.”

These opportunities helped students strengthen both technical skills and professional confidence while understanding how emerging technologies are implemented within corporate environments.

Dean of Student Success, Amal Dib described student development as an ongoing process that begins from the very first day students arrive on campus. 

“They’re not the same people who joined on the first day,” she said. “We build them from day one in terms of their skills, their academics, to get them ready for the market and to be professionals on the right track.” 

Amal Dib emphasized that the university’s smaller and close-knit community allows faculty and administrators to provide personalized support to students throughout their academic journeys. Unlike larger institutions where students can sometimes feel disconnected, Arkansas State University Qatar has cultivated a culture of accessibility, mentorship, and collaboration.

“I joined the university as a kid,” he reflected. “Now I’ve grown into a man.” 

Ouda explained that internships, volunteering opportunities, and faculty mentorship played a significant role in shaping his personal development. He believes the university experience taught him discipline, time management, responsibility, and maturity. 

“I think before doing any decision now,” he said, reflecting on how much his perspective and decision-making abilities evolved during his studies. 

His story reflects the broader philosophy embraced by Arkansas State University Qatar — that higher education should not only provide knowledge but also help students become more thoughtful, disciplined, and confident individuals prepared for life beyond graduation. 

Master’s graduate Zaina Rihani shared a similarly emotional perspective about her experience completing a degree in Educational Leadership. 

“It wasn’t an easy journey, but it was worth the work,” she said while reflecting on the value of receiving an American education while remaining in Qatar and the wider Arab region. 

Rihani described how students who initially entered classrooms as strangers eventually developed into a supportive and collaborative community through open discussion and shared experiences. 

“We still have that perfect world inside our classroom,” she said. 

Her experience highlights the importance of community and collaboration within this highly regarded American university in Qatar. Students are encouraged to support one another academically and emotionally, creating an environment where learning becomes both intellectually stimulating and personally meaningful. 

Rihani also offered an inspiring message to future students preparing to begin their own university journeys. 

“You’re going to doubt yourselves,” she admitted. “But by the end of the journey, you will understand why you took that step. It’s worth every sleepless night.”

“Never limit your challenges, but challenge your limits,” he told graduates.
